Thomson Cruises announces ted as entertainment provider on new ships

The UK’s third largest cruise line, Thomson Cruises, has today announced that The Entertainment Department (ted) will be providing all entertainment on board the latest ships to its fleet, TUI Explorer and the yet-to-be-named addition, currently sailing as Mein Schiff 2. With a specially-created modern package of entertainment shows and attractions, the ted offering will be ready for launch on board TUI Explorer ship from May 2018.

Offering a balanced mix of contemporary entertainment, the programme has been specifically designed to suit customers of all ages. The innovative entertainment content, created exclusively in-house by the ted team, includes numerous original theatre shows, light entertainment, musicians and state-of-the-art children’s concepts, all of which embrace the latest technologies such as virtual reality and interactive screens.

Richard Sofer, Managing Director of Thomson Cruises said: “We’re delighted to confirm ted as our entertainment provider on the new additions to our fleet in the next two years. We’re committed to ensuring we provide choice and flexibility across our fleet coupled with the highest of standards and we have no doubt that ted will do just that with the entertainment. We can’t wait for our customers to experience it.”

ted CEO Robin Breese-Davies commented: “We strive to always produce creative and cutting edge content. To have our talent performing on a Thomson Cruises platform, delivering our bespoke shows is a great achievement. We are proud to be partnering with Thomson Cruises on the new ships entering its fleet and to be offering something distinctive from our competition. We see the award of the business as a perfect fit alongside our other valued land-based clients across the UK and internationally and we look forward entertaining the Thomson Cruises customer.”

Entering the fleet as Thomson Cruises’ biggest ship yet, TUI Explorer introduces new feature bar, Indigo, which offers stunning ocean views from its prime position at the top of the ship and is home to the casino and nightclub when the sun goes down; Aperitif, an intimate speakeasy style bar perfect for pre and post dinner drinks; Scoops, an ice-cream parlour with quirky bicycle-themed seating; and The Lounge, a new venue complete with colour-changing bar and signature brightly coloured piano, where customers can relax and listen to live music.
