Product Developer




We are recruiting a creative and commercially-minded Product Developer to join our Retail department as part of our HQ operations, located in Milton Keynes, UK.

Role responsibilities


tedretail is a department within ted and is responsible for developing customised merchandise (including toys, souvenirs and clothing) for various clients throughout the UK and Europe. We have a reputation for excellence and innovation in our product development, and we have seen rapid growth in the last five years.


We are seeking a passionate and highly driven team player who is highly organised, creative, commercially minded and experienced in handling multiple projects at the same time. They must have a passion for our customers, brands and products and be a natural problem solver. They will be responsible for products from concept/brief, through sampling and to production, managing the critical path at every stage. They will also need to make recommendations for improvements and/or cost savings once products are in the market and use these learnings for future product development.


tedretail only deal at source (Far East) so travel to China and Hong Kong is essential.


Qualifications, skills and experience


tedretail has a reputation for creating truly innovative products. We need someone who can continue innovating with brand new product concepts, so experience of researching trends and new product ideas, and turning them into real-life products is essential.

A sound knowledge of all critical path stages of a new product from concept to launch is essential. Experience of working directly with Far East factories is desired.

Must have excellent numeracy and literacy skills, and a good understanding of MS Office, particularly Excel.

Must have strong negotiation skills and experience.



Character and attitude


Being a natural problem solver is a real must in this role.  Being organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines is essential, as is being able to keep a cool head under pressure. Must be self-motivated, be able to work on own initiative and be passionate about our products and our clients.

This is a full-time, permanent role, reporting to the Head of Retail at tedHQ in Milton Keynes, UK.


The salary is competitive, negotiable depending on experience, and includes 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
