tedretail is a department within ted and is responsible for developing customised merchandise (including

toys, souvenirs and clothing) for various clients worldwide. We have a reputation for

excellence and innovation in our product development, and we have seen rapid growth in the last five

years.

We are seeking a passionate and highly driven team player who is highly organised, tenacious,

commercially minded and experienced in handling multiple projects at the same time. They must have a

passion for our customers, brands and products and be a natural problem solver. They will be responsible

for products from concept/brief, through sampling and to production, managing the critical path at every

stage. They will also need to make recommendations for improvements and/or cost savings once products

are in market and use these learnings for future product development.

tedretail only deal at source so global travel will be an essential part of the role.

The role includes a company laptop and phone.

Responsibilities- 

  • Critical path management – set out milestone dates at the start of projects to ensure all deadlines are clear. Co-ordinate with factories and relevant internal departments to ensure all deadlines are hit. Be the owner of the product throughout the critical path.
  • Factory negotiation – negotiate with factories on cost prices to get the best price possible. It will also be necessary to agree other factors such as timing and quality levels (in conjunction with the Product Technologist).
  • Product development – take agreed concepts from the Head of Retail and Business Development & Product Manager, brief these into factories, and manage the development cycle through to the end of production.
  • Quality – work in conjunction with the Product Technologist and the factory to agree acceptable product quality levels and QC specifications. Liaise with factories on any QC issues and their resolutions.

Qualifications & Skills- 

  • Excellent oral and written English
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Project management qualification or relevant experience
  • Ability to speak Mandarin or Hindi would be advantageous, though not essential
Character and Attitude-
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Must be a natural problem solver
  • Able to keep a cool head under pressure
  • Methodical, organised and accurate with excellent attention to detail
  • Tenacity and drive are key
Experience-
  • Must be experienced in NPD, ideally within the toys and/or gifts sectors
  • Experience of working directly with non-UK factories is essential
  • Experience of critical path or project management is essential
