tedretail is a department within ted that is responsible for developing customised merchandise for various clients throughout the UK and Europe. We have a reputation for excellence and innovation in our bespoke products and the retail experiences we create.

We are looking for an Allocator to manage stock allocations for our clients, alongside our logistics operations – making sure the right amount of stock is in the right place at the right time. The ideal candidate will have a real head for numbers, matched with excellent Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulae such as vlookups. They will also need to be commercially savvy – understanding how one product’s sales might affect another and identifying lines that might need action such as clearance activity.

Reporting into the Retail Operations Manager, the role will be the only Allocator within the team and as such will be the owner of our stock and logistics.

This role would suit someone with 2-3 years’ experience in Stock Control or Merchandising.


  • Produce 3-weekly stock allocations for our biggest client, using their stocktake and sales data and our inventory data to ensure each store has the right amount of stock
  • Produce ad-hoc sales analysis reports for clients when requested, using the data to form conclusions on sales trends and identifying any risks
  • Calculate how changes in planograms will affect stores’ stock allocations and make adjustments accordingly
  • Oversee the logistics processes of all our imports – ensure factories have shipped in time and monitor shipment ETAs
  • Troubleshoot any logistics issues with our Support Co-Ordinator
  • Support the cashflow forecast for the department and share the Retail dept cashflow requirements with the Finance Director

Qualifications & Skill-

  • Must have excellent Excel skills – as a minimum, must be very comfortable with pivot tables and formulae such as vlookups
  • Must have outstanding numerical skills
  • Strong communication skills – this role will need to work closely with the Client Services Manager, the Visual Merchandisers and the Product Development team so it’s important the successful candidate is able to communicate effectively across the team and articulates themselves well.
